The Problem with Manual Organization
Most people's Google Drive is a mess — hundreds of files in the root folder with names like "Untitled document (3)" and "Final_FINAL_v2.docx". Organizing them manually takes hours and requires decisions you'd rather not make.
AI can read file names, infer topics, and sort files into logical folders automatically — in seconds. It's especially useful when you transfer a Google Drive from a school or work account and want to land with an organized folder structure instead of a giant dump folder.
How DriveSwap's AI Organization Works
When you transfer files with DriveSwap, you can optionally enable AI organization. Here's what happens:
- DriveSwap scans all your file names
- AI groups them by topic, project, or subject area based on the names
- Files are placed into labeled subfolders within each file type folder
- You get a neatly organized Drive instead of one big dump folder
You can also provide custom instructions — for example: "Group by year" or "Separate work files from personal files" or "Put anything finance-related in a Finance folder."
What AI Organization Can Do
- Group by topic: Files about similar subjects land in the same folder
- Group by project: Files that seem to belong to the same project are together
- Group by time period: Files sorted by year or semester
- Custom categories: You define the folder structure in plain English
Example: Before and After
Before
- Q3 Budget Review.xlsx
- Client Proposal - Acme.docx
- Meeting Notes Oct.docx
- Q4 Budget Draft.xlsx
- Acme Contract Signed.pdf
- Team Offsite Planning.docx
After AI
- Finance / Q3 Budget Review.xlsx
- Finance / Q4 Budget Draft.xlsx
- Acme / Client Proposal.docx
- Acme / Acme Contract Signed.pdf
- Internal / Meeting Notes Oct.docx
- Internal / Team Offsite Planning.docx
